The mother of Kiesha Abrahams will face trial over her death in June next year.

Kristi Anne Abrahams’s trial for the murder of the six-year-old girl will take about eight weeks, the NSW Supreme Court was told on Friday.

Ms Abrahams did not enter a plea.

Wearing a black-and-white spotted top and grey pants and with her large neck tattoos visible, Ms Abrahams chatted in the dock with her male co-accused.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced next month after earlier pleading guilty to manslaughter and being an accessory after the fact of murder.

Police say Kiesha, who is also known by her biological father’s surname, Weippeart, was probably killed in the week of July 20 last year. She was reported missing by Ms Abrahams and the co-accused on August 1.

The prosecution said there would be at least 48 witnesses called. Ms Abraham’s barrister, Angus Webb, laughed at the number, and suggested there could be a couple of hundred witnesses.

He said the brief of evidence was 11 or 12 volumes.

Ms Abrahams and the co-accused, who was dressed in prison greens, spoke to each other for about 10 minutes as they waited for their cases to be mentioned.

Ms Abrahams will be arraigned on February 1 next year.
