An Opinium/Observer poll shows that UK Labour Party’s approval rating has hit its lowest point since the 2010 election, just one point ahead of the Tories.
The two-point drop puts the rating at 33 percent, just one percentage point ahead of the Conservatives who registered 32 percent.
The UK Independence Party (UKIP) came in at 15 percent (down one) with the Liberal Democrats unchanged at 10 percent, the poll showed.
The results also show a contrast with polls published a year ago, as Ed Miliband’s Labour Party was 10 points ahead of the Tories at that time.
Analysts say Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne’s budget on March 19 put more pressure on Miliband and cut Labour’s lead.
However, as support for Labour has fallen, the Conservatives have failed to record any strong increase and are still below previous highs in parliament.
In early March 2012, the Opinium poll had the Tories on 38 percent and Labour on 36 percent.
Opinium Research carried out an online survey of 1,936 British adults aged 18+ from March 25 to March 28.
