A man was arrested and charged with sexual abuse related charges after getting drunk during a flight and squeezing the behind of one of the flight attendants on board, according to federal investigators.
The Thornton, Colorado man was charged Monday with abusive sexual contact allegedly made to the flight attendant aboard a Spirit Airlines flight.
Evan Nathaniel Castle, 24, was a passenger on Flight 562 from Las Vegas, Nevada to Denver, Colorado Friday morning. He was arrested after landing in Denver.
According to an arrest warrant, Castle was served several alcoholic drinks during the flight. He then became loud and used profanity. Ultimately, one of the flight attendants told Castle to stop using vulgar language and to calm down. He refused, and said he wanted a date with the flight attendant.
The affidavit revealed that Castle told another flight attendant she was beautiful. Then he said: “blow off and come with me.” The flight attendant ignored the comments. As she passed by hs seat, Castle allegedly squeezed her behind and said: “Oh sexy.” This made the flight attendant avoid the man for the rest of the flight. The flight attendant told another flight attendant that Castle had “grabbed my behind.”
Castle told investigators he was trying to get drunk on the flight. He had no alcohol before flying and did not take any drugs. He denied touching any member of the flight crew and said one of the flight attendants had an “attitude towards him.”
“If these charges turn out to be true, this man should be banned from flying as he is a danger to the crew and other passangers,” Magen Foster, 40, of Denver, Colorado told YourJewishNews.com after reading about the incident.
At a court hearing, Castle was released on a personal recognizance bond, with the conditions that he cannot drink alcohol while his case is pending and that he cannot fly on commercial aircraft while his case is pending. He is next due in court next month for a preliminary hearing.
If convicted, Castle faces up to two years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
