Only days after the LAPD reported a sighting of Tobias Dustin Summers in San Diego, the manhunt for the parolee accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Calif. on March 27 has now extended to Mexico. Police reported yesterday that Summers, 30, was caught on video crossing the Mexican border at a crossing just east of San Diego.
According to FOX News, authorities are not specifying the exact date and time of the video.
Wanted posters for Summers have been distributed to police in Tijuana, Tecate, Ensenada and Rosarito Beach.
In the border crossing video, Summers was seen wearing a hat and may have either shaved his head or had closely cropped hair.
The 10-year-old girl was kidnapped from her bedroom around 3 a.m. on March 27. The LAPD believe she was held at a storage facility and a second location.
She was found barely alive 12 hours after the initial kidnapping about five miles from her home, “barefoot and bruised and wearing different clothing than she had on when she was kidnapped.”
Police have charged Summers with kidnapping and multiple counts of sexual assault and burglary.
Summers’ alleged accomplice in the kidnapping, Daniel Martinez, 29, of West Hills, Calif., was arrested and charged on April 1.
Martinez has since pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and burglary charges.
