SHE’S always been a proud plus-size star, but the promoters of her new film The Heat have been accused of dramatically slimming down Melissa McCarthy’s face for a new poster.
Some have called McCarthy “unrecognisable” in an advertisement for the movie, with obvious photoshopping around her face and chin.
“Nobody is unclear [about] what Melissa McCarthy’s body size is – she’s plus-sized and proud,” wrote the editor of entertainment blog The Shiznit, which first wrote about the poster.
“So why have the designers of this poster done their utmost to Photoshop a good 30 lbs off of McCarthy’s face?”
“This is one of the worst Photoshop jobs I have ever seen, but it’s not just offensively bad craftsmanship – the intention behind it is downright nasty. Am I missing something? Are they trying to pretend it’s not her?”
It’s not the first time McCarthy has been photoshopped.
The Hollywood Reporter points out that the 42-year-old was visibly slimmed on a poster for her 2011 hit film, Bridesmaids.
