The New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has accused the Occupy Wall Street protesters of trying to destroy jobs in the city.

In his weekly radio show, Bloomberg said the protests against the city’s financial services were “not productive” given the importance of the sector to the local economy.

“What they’re trying to do is take the jobs away from people working in this city,” he said.

  1. There’s a New Yorker that gets it. The banks and Wall St. built NYC, now they want to get rid of the hand that feeds them? Doesn’t make since. The banks paid back in full, with interest, their TARP, and gave the tax payers a good deal. The Government made the right decision. Had the banks failed, the whole system would have collapsed. 401ks, investments, deposits, home equity, insurance, everything would have dried up. Everything people worked so hard for, and they would have only received a 100k FDIC check per account. It was right not to make the people the victims of poor corporate management, that has since come a long way. Kudos to the top 1% of intelligent people out there that didn’t let this happen. Let these kids protest, but set a curfew and get them out at night.
