Michele Bachmann has been named the winner of the Iowa straw poll, taking 4,823 votes out of nearly 17,000 cast.

Ron Paul was a close runner-up, taking 4,671 votes and trailing Bachmann by less than 200 ballots.

In a distant third place was former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who took 2,293 votes after investing heavily in the event.

  1. Who cares what is the lovefest for Ron Paul? The man is a fruitcake along with the entire Republican Party running to unseat Obama as corporate ass-kissers.

What do you know about him AD? None of you know the truth about the guy otherwise you wouldn’t be so gaga over a guy you believe is going to save you from all the mess that took hundreds of years to get where it is.

I think he has an unblemished 35 year record voting as a libertarian and he has never once lied, asked for an earmark or wavered in the slightest in his quest to end the fed. Do I believe he’s going to save us? I’ll settle for his leading us.

You must live on another planet, to being making those remarks about Ron Paul. He is no friend of corporations, and although he is technically a Republican, in reality, he is a Libertarian, and is the only HONEST candidate in either party running for President. Anyone that wants to abolish the Federal Reserve is no “ass-kisser”. I suggest you educate yourself, before you make a fool of yourself on this site.

Dr. Ron Paul is a great man patriot and isn’t bought like the other candidates on the republican and demo tickets. Don’t let dork ripple your feathers as he has not done his research or really cares by anyone but running his mouth which any fool can do. i would never vote for a female candidate as they aren’t driven and analytical enough as a man is, thou they lie better than men do. Women have been trying to be MEN for years now and are horrible at most things they try and do..sorry but as President she won’t be respected in such a position in the world by people who count like kings and parliaments. Palin and Clinton as well as Rice have shown how they follow the MENS CLUB even worse then the male politicians. No balls means NO BALLS! IM JUST SAYING.

Steve the MSM portrays him as a fruitcake. He is a Constitutionalist and Libertarian. As Concerned said he is not a friend to corporations either. This is a man who has raised more money from those who serve in the military including Obama which is unheard of because the military usually supports the incumbent President more then any other candidate.

He wants to have government accountable to the people. End the Federal Reserve. As he also wants to bring it back to the dollar actually having something backing it. That is sound politics not being a fruitcake.

You are right, but only to some level. Ja some of Pauls ideas are pretty nutty and never be able to achieve, but on the side of Bachmann, Pain, no Palin, he looks like the overachiever anyway.
So, if I would have to chose between one of them, I would choose Paul! Sad enough that they are no better alternatives, but at least he is one.

Nevertheless, it is pretty clear that EVERY politician can be bought in this country and that does not stop before Paul nor Obama, which you may choose as “alternative”!

In response to the “push” for a first Black president, I predicted that there would soon be a “push” for the first woman president. However, the dire economic times plays against this “let the ‘discriminated’ have a chance” scenario. Nevertheless, it will not surprise me if somehow Michelle Bachmann becomes the republican nominee, she would pick Sarah Palin as a running mate. Her good showing in the Iowa caucus should not be taken that she is a legitimate contender though. Iowa afterall, is practically in her own backyard where her team worked hard in canvassing. Her popularity on the east coast, in the south, and the Western States is a completely different story. Indeed, she is not a popular contender and it will be a huge hurdle for her to overcome.

If that happens that will mean the republicans are planning to throw another election so Obama will get a second term.

The Brain dead McCain and Palin was a classic example of the Republicans throwing an election. When Palin found out that she was on the ticket to lose rather than win, she and the republican party’s friendship turned to horseshit. That’s why she is now a Tea Partier.

And how about Bob, falling off the stage Dole as another republican candidate taking a dive so Clinton would get another term to fuck up the countrysome more. Or president George HW Bush that didn’t even try to cover up the fact he threw the 92 election to that piece of shit Bill Clinton.

Ron Paul probably wont get elected and he knows it. But what he is doing by running is showing the American people the true evil of both corporate owned parties and their tools that were on the stage in Iowa.

You will notice the anointed republicans were the only ones blasting Obama and dancing around the questions that were being asked. That’s because Paul didn’t need to dance and obfuscate when asked direct questions and actually had solutions that made logical sense. None of the double-talk of those other lying sacks of shit.

No he won’t win if there is an election in 2012 and that is because both corrupt parties will collude to get him out of the race or join forces to cross party lines and defeat him in the primaries like they did to Pat Buchanan when he won Iowa and then New Hampshire.
The scumbag and republican operative Ralph Reid, head of the Christian Coalition in S.Carolina, acting on orders from the Dem and Republican hierarchy, made sure that Buchanan lost by instructing his flock of brain dead members from both parties, to vote against Buchanan because he was on his way to winning the primaries and the nomination. When both parties are in danger of losing their death grip on the reins of power they will form a marriage from hell to save their rotten asses no matter how illegal or dishonest that may be.

If you can rig the nomination process (the primaries) you can rig the outcome of the election. Just ask Daddy Bush, McCain and Palin and Dole.

  3. Ok, so Fox News reported while reading the straw poll results that the total votes were 16,892. Bachmann 4823, Paul 4671, Pawlenty 2293, Santorum 1657, Cain 1456, Perry 718, Romney 567, Gingrich 385, Huntsman 69, McCotter 35… That’s 16,674 votes and they said there were 16,892 votes casted. Where is the other 218 votes? Maybe Gary Johnson? Or maybe someone is playing dirty…

are you saying the collectivists are crooked? the collectivists will not kill Ron Paul this early, otherwise someone could take his place. they will wait until late in the election cycle if they do. if Paul does get in they will sabotage the economy, order china to hit one of our aircraft carriers with a dong feng (that clinton gave them), activate there 10 million illegal immigrant army, unleash genetically altered germ warfare, and haarp our nuclear plants. and then blame Ron Paul for everything.

    American Dystopia Reply:
    August 13th, 2011 at 6:06 pm

Maybe, but in any case coming in 218 behind the winner isn’t bad at all. Huckabee trailed Romney by a larger margin in 2008 and went on to win the Iowa Caucus.

    ConcernedSenior Reply:

Actually, Ron only lost by 152 votes, not 218.

    Sabnock1990 Reply:

Maybe those 218 votes were actually Ron’s… Maybe he would have had 218 more votes and would have came out victorious. I know the system, i know they do whatever they want, but they are never going to get rid of us. We are going to win, and if something does happen to Ron Paul like he is killed, then America should prepare themselves for total chaos and mayhem in the streets, the military will be called in, all hell will break loose… And i know, we don’t want that… But we may not have a choice.

    Interesting,
if not even a simple straw poll can be done by the rules, who is still gonna believe that primaries truly reflect the voters choice? And of course we do not have to discuss about presidental elections!

Somebody still want to believe in real democracy???

  4. okay let’s be VERY CLEAR here. there is NO WAY ron paul will be the candidate, period. the republican establishment see him as a nutjob, and I know, I know, he actually isn’t. problem is with him and his crazy son, they make sense on some things, but then are way off on others. ron paul, as I’ve said before, is TOTALLY for deregulation of big corporate business, he’s one of those that thinks “the market would work better without the government involved”, under that belief we have more corporation control than ever. did you know corporations have the same rights as people? that is the craziest crap I’ve ever heard of, hopefully someone on the left or right will fix that, but both sides are beholden to big business, so I doubt it. AND as I keep saying, ron paul is totally ANTI-ABORTION, so he hooks the left in with some of his positions, but then when you hear him really say what he wants, it turns off the left, who he needs to get any real numbers. as far as michelle crazytown bachmann, she has as much a chance of being the nominee as ron paul or sarah palin, and that is not much. michelle is so crazy far right that once she is on a national televised debate, if she got that far, the public would see her for the wild things she really believes, that’s her supporters and those on the fence, WON’T HAPPEN, she has some crazy views, but is coasting along on being a religious white woman, but that will run out of steam real quick. I don’t know who the right can throw against obama, they all look bad, and I don’t like obama either, so it’s a scary scenario being set up for 2012.

    jchance Reply:

They don’t see Ron Paul as a nut job. They see him as a threat to their status quo big business, big banks, military industrial complex ways.

Actually corporations have more rights then people these days. An example is Microsoft is violating the DMCA’s encryption circumvention clause by distributing it’s COFEE USB key software to local, state, and Federal law enforcement so they can break the encryption of Windows passwords and partitions formatted to be encrypted. Hell they even gave it to the TSA so they could rifle through your laptops and PDA’s too. Which when they do that, they are deleting anything they deem as illegal. Rip your own MP3′s, gone. Use DVR software that lets you take your TV on the go without DRM, deleted. And Microsoft gets away with it.

It along with every law enforcement agency and the TSA should all be charged with violations of the DMCA but it won’t happen.

Ron Paul wants to deregulate business, not corporations. He actually wants those who run them to be held accountable for any and all illegal activities committed by the corporations.

  5. For those stupefied by this result, a source on the ground informs us that Bachmann proceeded to hand out 6000 free tickets at $30 each with a mandatory registration at her booth to gain concert entrance. Furthermore, final results were probably tabulated by the Fed Bureau of Labor Statistics.
