This manipulative headline intends to convey the idea that American doctors have “refused” to operate on this helpless child for nefarious reasons — most likely because of “antisemitism” — or perhaps given the recent Israeli slaughter in Gaza, they refused to treat the child to punish the Israelis for their brutality toward the Palestinians — but the reality comes down to something far more mundane — lack of insurance or ability to pay:
Readers around the world have followed the story of the Kirschbaum family, who lost a son in the Meron Lag Ba’Omer tragedy. Their lost son, however, is not the main source of the headlines: Six-year-old Malki Kirschbaum has a severe case of liver cancer, and doctors advised the family to fly from Israel to America as soon as possible for a full liver transplant.
Despite being a family of modest means, barely up from the shiva of the sudden loss of their teenage son, Mr and Mrs. Kirschbaum booked the family tickets to America and scheduled the life-saving procedure. Unclear as to how they would cover the costs, they resolved that above all else, they must save their daughter’s life.
The Kirschbaums landed in Pittsburgh today, and now face a terrifying predicament. Despite unity from donors worldwide who helped to fly them there, they have now been told that they must pay the full price of the procedure (minimum $200,000 + additional expenses) before Michali can go into the operating room.
Michali’s parents, siblings, extended family, and neighbors are currently praying for her recovery, and that there should be a miraculous raising of funds that will allow her to get the transplant she needs. It is impossible to know how much longer she can hold out without a new liver.
So much of this story is simply unbelievable — starting with the fact that Israel allegedly has one of the best health care systems in the world — and with the recent slaughter of children in Gaza, there must be plenty of fresh livers for transplant candidates like this child.
Yes, Israel actually admitted that they have harvested organs from “dead” Palestinians — while Palestinians claim that the donors were not dead yet.
And we know that the Israelis are a close genetic match with the Palestinians — as they have used each other’s organs for transplants on a routine basis.
The medical “experts” in Israel told the family that they needed go to the U.S. for the transplant — as if Israel, all of a sudden, is a third world country.
As far as this case goes, how exactly were the Kirschbaums able to convince the hospital in Pittsburgh to schedule the transplant without first having procured a donor liver — and without providing proof of payment, given they are not even U.S. residents?
Most likely, the family thought — or were told — that they could just show up with their sick child — a Jewish child — and the hospital would do whatever was necessary because they are “God’s chosen people” — or more likely, “Someone will make a call.”
Either way, the guilt trip seems to be working — over $175,000 in donations have already rolled in — and the child will probably get her transplant — ahead of American children who are in similar circumstances.
When they aren’t in a position of having to beg for our life-saving donor organs, their leaders, like the much-revered Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, claims that Jews are not even the same species as the “goyim” — which, of course, would make such organ transplants impossible:
We do not have a case of profound change in which a person is merely on a superior level. Rather we have a case of . . . a totally different species. . . . The body of a Jewish person is of a totally different quality from the body of [members] of all nations of the world . . . The difference of the inner quality [of the body] . . . is so great that the bodies would be considered as completely different species. This is the reason why the Talmud states that there is an halachic difference in attitude about the bodies of non-Jews [as opposed to the bodies of Jews]: “their bodies are in vain”. . . . An even greater difference exists in regard to the soul. Two contrary types of soul exist, a non-Jewish soul comes from three satanic spheres, while the Jewish soul stems from holiness.
