Natural News announces recipients of the 2015 Courageous Science Awards

(NaturalNews) Each year, Natural News selects some of the most courageous scientists and researchers in the U.S. and abroad whose work is not co-opted by special interests or bought-and-paid-for by corporations. Generally, that includes scientists who produce replicable data on foods, substances and other elements vital to the protection of life and the promotion of true health, and this year’s list is full of men and women true to their scientific calling.

Without further ado, the 2015 Courageous Science Awards go do:

Dr. Tim Smith, M.D.: A noted and respected cancer researcher, Dr. Smith has authored an e-book available for viewing free online titled, The GcMAF Book containing data and information explaining GcMAF therapy for the treatment of deadly cancers.

“Cancer is a war waged in our bodies on a submicroscopic molecular scale. Taking a keen interest in this war wouldn’t be a bad idea, as its outcome will eventually determine whether about a third of us will live or die,” he wrote on the book’s website. “The advent of Nagalase testing and GcMAF therapy gives us reason to hope and expect that we can soon eradicate the specter of cancer.”

Elaborating, Dr. Smith notes:

GcMAF [Glycoprotein Macrophage Activating Factor] is a research-proven cancer therapy—a human protein that activates specific immune cells (macrophages) that attack and destroy cancer cells.

Nagalse is the equivalent of a cholesterol test for cancer. Just as the presence of high levels of cholesterol indicate a high risk for atherosclerotic plaque, a high Nagalse level indicates the presence of cancer.

In addition to being a family physician, Dr. Smith is also a nutritional biochemist and specialist in anti-aging medicine, according to his personal web site. His primary medical interests are in finding and addressing “the underlying molecular biological causes of disease rather than just treating the symptoms.”

He has also written two previous books, Outsmarting the Number One Killer, which details how to reverse your risk of a heart attack or stroke, and Renewal: The Anti-Aging Revolution, which offers ways to change your diet and lifestyle in order to live a longer, healthier, pain-free life. Dr. Smith has made both of these books available for free on his website to anyone seeking to improve their health or expand their knowledge.

Thanks for all that you do, Dr. Smith!

Dr. Mehmet Oz: One of the most talented and prolific defenders of health freedom is Dr. Oz. Through his television program and his work, he is a staunch promoter of finding, presenting and implementing the safest, most effective ways to find illness and disease – so much so that it has earned him the ire of his corporate-beholden colleagues on the payrolls of Big Pharma and in the grips of a medical establishment that at times appears inert and incapable of change.

Like Dr. Smith, Dr. Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon who is a professor of surgery and the prestigious Columbia University School of Medicine, is a long-time champion of alternative medicine and research into non-traditional methods of treating disease, and that has landed him in hot water with many colleagues, some of whom have called on Columbia University to revoke his status as a professor.

As reported by Natural News editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, after airing a program this year on his well-known daytime television program critical of glyphosate – the principle ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, Dr. Oz was viciously attacked by the “Monsanto Mafia,” a cabal of mainstream corporate-owned medical providers and Big Pharma backers. They attacked Dr. Oz, despite the fact that the World Health Organization declared earlier this year that the substance “probably” causes cancer.

In recent programs, Dr. Oz has discussed ractopamine, a feed additive that affects pigs and the pork we eat and which is actually banned in many countries; DIY beauty tips; five “metabolism death foods” that are preventing your weight loss; and “secret sugar bombs in healthy food.”

Sound like a “kook” to you? We don’t think so, either, which is why Dr. Oz made our list this year.

Stephanie Seneff: A senior research scientist at prestigious MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Dr. Seneff has a bachelor’s degree in biophysics, an MS in Electrical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, all from MIT.

According to her MIT bio web page:

In recent years, Dr. Seneff has focused her research interests back towards biology. She is concentrating mainly on the relationship between nutrition and health. Since 2011, she has written over a dozen papers (7 as first author) in various medical and health-related journals on topics such as modern day diseases (e.g., Alzheimer, autism, cardiovascular diseases), analysis and search of databases of drug side effects using NLP techniques, and the impact of nutritional deficiencies and environmental toxins on human health.

More to the point, Dr. Seneff has focused on the dangers of GMOs and glyphosate, and how they can and have contributed to nutritional disease, as well as aluminum in vaccines and how vaccine ingredients could be associated with autism symptoms. Her exemplary work is considered some of the most authoritative in the research world, and for that we commend her.

Dr. Suzanne Humphries: Dr. Humphries is an internal medicine and kidney specialist who received her medical training in the traditional manner. However, as Adams notes, “after seeing mainstream doctors and hospital staff categorically ignore routine vaccine injuries occurring in her patients, Dr. Humphries began researching vaccine science which validated her concerns about the injections.”

Dr. Humphries, co-author of Dissolving Illusions: Disease, Vaccines, and the Forgotten History, earlier this year in an interview at the Vaccine World Summit took on Dr. Paul Offit, chief of infectious diseases at the University of Pennsylvania, a vaccine pusher who even questioned religious objections to vaccination in a piece he penned called, “What Would Jesus Do?” which was highly offensive to Christians in particular.

“[H]e is also the co-inventor of a rotavirus vaccine, which is a diarrhea vaccine, called Rota Teq, which is given to infants. He is also a former ACIP voting member, and these are the people who tell us which vaccines should be given to our children,” she said.

Dr. Humphries, in her work, has been a tireless advocate for informed medical consent and an ardent opponent of what she sees as the encroaching “medical Gestapo” police state, which is how she earned her award.

Dr. Sherri Tenpenny: Another tireless informed medical consent proponent, Dr. Tenpenny worked to defeat California’s SB277, led by Big Pharma-supported California Sen. Dr. Richard Pan, lamenting its passage as the last chance in the state to protect children from being subjected to chemical substances that can injure or kill them.

“What has happened to our country in 2015? WHY has there been such a big push to eliminate a parent’s right to refuse a vaccine?” she wrote on her website in October.

It’s all part of a larger plan to force vaccinations on all Americans under the umbrella of a federal initiative known as Healthy People 2020, which she is working to derail.

“We tried testifying, having endless civil discussions, sending pleas to the media, firing off letters with eloquent intellectual arguments and irrefutable scientific evidence. The result? THEY march on, fearless of any retribution and laughing all the way to their pharma-funded next campaign,” she wrote.

Her fearless, outspoken support of free medical choice earned her an award this year.

Dr. Jack Wolfson: In the wake of an overyhyped measles outbreak that originated at Disneyland this past year, Dr. Wolfson, an Arizona cardiologist, was one of the first to debunk the vaccine hysteria that followed the outbreak. For doing so, he was aggressively assaulted verbally by the traditional and co-opted medical establishment, “which routinely accuses anyone who questions the party line on vaccines as being a danger to society,” Adams wrote in July.

A cabal of establishment medical types filed 38 separate complaints with Arizona medical regulators against Dr. Wolfson in an attempt to shut him up and intimidate him and those associated with him. He even received death threats, Adams noted.

The all-out effort failed.

“All the doctors and trolls and Pharma-funded operatives who were calling for Dr. Wolfson’s license to be revoked… have once again failed to achieve their desired aim,” Adams wrote, after the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Board ruled that the cardiologist was well within his free speech and professional rights to question the efficacy of mass vaccination.

Thanks for standing tall for the medical truth, Dr. Wolfson, and congrats on your award.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield: Another respected attendee of the World Vaccine Summit earlier this year, Dr. Wakefield, a leading gastroenterologist and the first to link MMR vaccines and autism, said he became a tireless crusader for vaccine truth following his research and concerns expressed to him by parents.

“In 1995, parents came to me as a gastroenterologist saying, ‘my child was developing perfectly normally in speech, language, milestones — all that.’ And then they had had, in many cases, the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine and had lost their skills and regressed into autism,” he said.

“Not only had they developed autism, but in the few weeks ensuing the vaccine they had suffered neurological complications — high fevers, they had become drowsy, slept for a long time, high-pitched screaming episodes, seizures, and ataxia, incoordination — hard neurological signs of an evolving encephalopathy or brain injury.”

The parents were not “anti-vaccine,” he explained further, noting that he never recommended not taking MMR, but rather taking the mumps, measles and rubella vaccines separately.

For his continuing effort to educate a vengeful medical industry as well as skeptical scientists, we salute you, Dr. Wakefield.

Dr. Gilles Eric-Seralini: Molecular biologist Dr. Eric-Seralini is a two-award winner this year, receiving the courageous scientist award and also recognition as a whistleblower who revealed to the world the toxicity of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide. As we reported in November, his whistleblower “award was presented by the Federation of German Scientists (VDW) and the German Section of the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms (IALANA), who also gave the award to former U.S. drone pilot Brandon Bryant, who spoke out against secret drone wars.”

Viciously smeared by the pro-Monsanto, pro-agri-chemical crowd, Dr. Eric-Seralini and his team fought to get their research re-published in the journal Environmental Sciences Europe after the smear tacticians successfully convinced editors at the journal Food and Chemical Toxicity to retract it.

And he, like others who have long doubted or questioned the safety of glyphosate – the prime ingredient in Roundup herbicide – have been vindicated by a separate WHO study linking the substance to cancer.

For standing tall in the face of diversity and never giving in to the pressure applied to him and his team, Dr. Eric-Seralini earned this award as well, for he truly is a courageous scientist.

Brandy Vaughan: This former drug rep for Big Pharma Merck became an activist for real vaccine science after learning that the company falsified safety information regarding the drug Vioxx, which was found to increase the risk and frequency of heart attacks in the early 2000s.

After leaving Merck in 2003, the California native dug deep into vaccine research and learned a great deal about the kind of harm they do. This year, her home was invaded – twice, including once after she installed a surveillance system – after she became active in the fight against SB277. Other forms of intimidation also took place.

But Vaughan was undeterred – so much so that she founded the Council for Vaccine Safety, a 501(c)(3) non-profit group “advocating for safe vaccines and dedicated to raising public awareness of the risks of vaccination.”

From her experience selling Vioxx, a painkiller, “I realized that just because something is on the market, doesn’t mean it’s safe,” explains Brandy. “And much of what we are told by the healthcare industry, just simply isn’t the truth.”

After leaving Merck in 2003, she spent eight years living in Europe and seeing how healthcare is delivered there.

“You owe it to your child to do your own research, and not just believe everything you’re told, especially when it’s only one side of the story — the one that prioritizes profit over your child’s health,” she said.

No doubt, Ms. Vaughan. Congrats to you on your award, and congratulations to all of this year’s recipients. Keep up the great work!
