Mining magnate Clive Palmer has rejected Treasurer Wayne Swan’s claim he influenced the Queensland government’s decision to join a legal challenge against the mining tax.
Mr Swan on Monday accused the Queensland Liberal National Party (LNP) government of being influenced by Mr Palmer when it decided to join Fortescue Metals Group’s High Court challenge to the minerals resource rent tax (MRRT).
But a spokesman for Mr Palmer said it was the federal government’s carbon tax he opposed, not the MRRT.
“This is just another personal attack from Mr Swan, which has no substance,” the spokesman said in a statement.
