A school in New York has crossed the line by telling the female students that they had to wear hijabs all day to celebrate Muslims… Unbelievable.
For those of you that don’t know what a hijab is they are scarves that Muslim females wear on their heads for some religious purpose.
Over 100 girls wore the religious garb.
The brilliant idea came from a Muslim student, Eman Muthana.
She simply asked World School of Inquiry Principal Sheela Webster for permission in a letter, writing “World Hijab Day invites every woman to wear the hijab for a day so they would experience how women who wear the hijab are treated by others. The purpose of this is to educate, and feel part of the school community.”
The principal gladly caved to the idea, without consulting ANYONE on the matter.
“Our school believes in diversity and inclusion,” World School of Inquiry Principal Sheela Webster told WHAM.
A lot of people slammed the school for having the girls wear the hijabs claiming it violated separation of church and state. The school district received dozens of negative phone calls from irate parents.
One angry father, Jim Farnholz wrote “As a high school teacher for over 30 years, let me say that this is wrong on so many levels. All religions are taught in our global studies classes. That being said, that is where understanding, tolerance and the good and bad of religion and history are taught. This, however is a clear violation of separation of church and state.”
“From our perspective, religion was not the center of the instructional process here,” Webster told WHEC. “It was actually around learning about the cloth.”
Yeah right. What a lame answer- undoubtedly a liberal.
The school says they notified parents prior to the event via robocall after the media started asking questions.
A district spokesman told 13WHAM News they consulted with a lawyer about today’s event. The lawyer said there would be more of a legal issue if the school said no to this event.
Hopefully the parents sue the district and put a stop to this insanity.
Absolutely unbelievable…
