Officer probed over interference claims

A Queensland police officer has been stood down pending a probe into claims he tried to interfere with a criminal investigation and released confidential information.

The male officer, 42, is also accused of inappropriately accessing the confidential information he allegedly released without authorisation.

The officer, from the Metropolitan North region, has been stood down from official duty, pending the outcome of the Ethical Services Command investigation, police said late on Thursday.

Police refused to provide further details about the allegations.
