The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has not been able to end the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Press TV reports.
According to reports, trilateral meetings between top officials from the OSCE, Ukraine and Russia have ceased without reaching a result.
On Monday, the Ukrainian government claimed a military transport airplane that was shot down in the country’s eastern part was probably attacked from inside Russia.
“Given the fact that the plane was flying at an altitude of 6,500 meters, it seems that the plane was struck by another more powerful weapon that as used, presumably, from the territory of the Russian federation,” Ukraine’s Defense Minister Valeriy Heletey said.
According to Russian officials more than 30,000 Ukrainians have applied for official refugee status in the Russian Federation.
“We have been bombed so terribly that I can’t even put it into words, they blow up the houses, what fault do we have, what fault do these children have?” an east Ukrainian citizen told Press TV.
The authorities of six Russian regions neighboring Ukraine recently declared a state of emergency due to the influx of refugees from the country’s troubled areas.
Ukraine’s mainly Russian-speaking parts in the east have been the scene of deadly clashes between pro-Russia activists and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations in mid-April in a bid to crush the pro-Moscow protests.
The violence intensified after Donetsk and Lugansk held local referendums on May 11, in which the residents of the two eastern regions voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence from Ukraine. The referendums echoed a March vote in Ukraine’s then autonomous region of Crimea that led to the integration of the Black Sea peninsula into the Russian Federation.
