Over 2m Iranian pilgrims depart for Karbala

IRNA – Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Saeed Ohadi said over 2 million Iranian pilgrims have departed for Karbala to take part in Arbaeen mourning ceremonies.

He referred to issuing 2 million visas for pilgrims by 16 consulate offices of Iraq as a great measure and as a record among other countries’ consulates.

Ohadi appreciated all efforts of police officers, IRGC forces, Basij, the governorate offices and the municipalities of Khuzestan and Ilam provinces.

He added that some 150,000 pilgrims have returned to Iran through Mehran border, some 150,000 from Shalamcheh, and some 100,000 through Chazzabe borders.
