‘P5+1 must work to lift Iran sanctions’

Chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines (ICCIM) Mohammad Nahavandian told Mehr news agency on Sunday that no hasty decisions should be made in the negotiations and stressed the importance of gradual confidence building.

The parties involved in the negotiations can build confidence in the field of economy because win-win approaches can be designed in the area, he added.

“Instead of beating the drum of sanctions, the two sides can experience areas of common interest and move towards positive confidence-building in economic cooperation,” Nahavandian pointed out.

The ICCIM chairman emphasized that Iran is ready to hold constructive talks as long as there are “fair” conditions and the rights of the Iranian nation are heeded.

The Baghdad meeting should also pave the way for mutual understanding and trust instead of making use of threats, the official added.

Nahavandian stated that Iran and the P5+1 countries – Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany – should not allow those parties that are not interested in a change of conditions to find a way to damage mutual confidence.

Iran and the P5+1 wrapped up the latest round of their negotiations on April 14 in Istanbul, and both sides hailed the talks as constructive.

The next round of the negotiations will be held on May 23 in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
