Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain says Islamabad will urge the Chinese government to accelerate implantation of bilateral pacts when he visits Beijing later this week.
President Hussain made the remarks in a Saturday interview with Chinese reporters at the presidential palace in Islamabad, three days before he departs for a state visit to Pakistan, Xinhua reported Sunday.
The Pakistani president further expressed particular interest about reaching consensus with the Chinese government to accelerate projects relating to energy in order to overcome power shortage in Pakistan.
“The people of Pakistan will be grateful to Chinese people and government for their help in the energy sector,” Hussain stated.
The Pakistani president also expressed optimism for acceleration of implementing the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.
The project is going to be a monument of the century, Hussain said, adding that it will benefit not only Pakistan and China, but also the entire region with billions of people.
President Hussain also said that China is Pakistan’s really best friend and Islamabad always stands by Beijing.
Bilateral relations between the two neighbors stand the test of time, Hussain said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced last week that the Pakistani president will visit China from February 18 to 21 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
