Pakistan seeks boosting commercial exchanges with Iran

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Pakistan is after boosting economic activities and commercial transactions with Iran, said Head of a Pakistani trade delegation Muhammad Shafiq.

He made the remarks in a meeting with a presidium member of Iran’s Khorasan Razawi Province Chamber of Commercial, Industries and Mines, Mohammad-Reza Tavakkoli-Zadeh, and also stressed increasing commercial exchanges between Iran and Pakistan to $5 billion.

He said rice is one of the priorities for trade exchanges between Iran and Pakistan.

Pakistan is the 12th largest rice producer and the 4th largest exporter in the world, he said, adding there are many demands for Pakistani rice.

“No doubt that Pakistan can play a leading role in Iran in the post-sanction era. Iranian businessmen and traders are invited to see Pakistani economic potentials in practice,” Shafiq said.

Tavakkoli-Zadeh, for his part, called for using potentials of the two sides to increase bilateral trade exchanges.
