The decision to sever diplomatic relations with Russia will lead to the exacerbation of hostilities, member of Ukraine’s Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction, first deputy head of Verkhovna Rada’s Foreign Affairs Committee Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said on Thursday.

“Isn’t it clear that those who offer such a path, renounce any attempts to resolve this international conflict by political and diplomatic means are paving the way to the exacerbation of hostilities,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

On March 30, the Verkhovna Rada Foreign Affairs Committee decided to support the resolution on terminating diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation.

According to the Ukrainian legislation, the committee’s decisions are advisory and non-binding.

The draft resolution on terminating diplomatic relations with Russia was submitted to Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada on March 15. It was authored by members of the Radical Party Oksana Korchinskaya and Yuri Shukhevych as well as Vladimir Parasyuk who ripped of Russia’s flag from the building of the Russian Consulate General in Lviv on March 9.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin earlier spoke out against this move. According to him, the severance of diplomatic relations with Russia will lead to the collapse of the existing negotiation format and jeopardize the Minsk agreements.
