Awake Goy TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani extended felicitations to Muslims on the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
In separate messages to heads of Islamic countries on Monday, Rouhani congratulated the auspicious occasion to Muslim nations and governments.
The Iranian chief executive expressed the hope that on the eve of this blessed occasion, more attention will be paid to fraternity and unity among Muslims and that the world will witness more peace and tranquility.
In his message, Rouhani also urged the Muslim world to boost cooperation in battling terrorism and extremism and take steps to correct the image of Islam distorted by violence and Islamophobic acts.
The 17th day of the month of Rabi al-Awwal on the lunar Hijri calendar marks the birth anniversaries of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadeq (AS), the sixth Imam of Shiites. This year it falls on Tuesday, December 29.
