As predicted by Ukrainian activists, and promised by neo-nazis, the second LGBTQIA+ Pride event in Kiev, Ukraine was attacked by pro-government Neo Nazis today. The first (which was also attacked, but only by 13 people) was held in 2013 before the coup, and in 2014, right after the Euromaidan Coup, the last Pride March was canceled. Vitaly Klitchko, Kiev’s mayor and major figurehead of the coup, urged people to cancel the rally.

The war in post-coup Ukraine has created over 2 million refugees, and killed thousands. Today, they attacked with pepper spray and tear gas as soon as the march started. 20-30 masked neo-nazis fought the police and chased off the 300 person march almost immediately. These hundreds (possibly over 1000) of teargas, pepper spray, and knife wielding nazis are not only pro government, they are quite possibly best described as government nazis, despite their fights with police today.

И эти же пацаны отвечали за заворушки на Майдане. Это они же стремились в Европу.

A Ukrainian activist who was quoted by Revolution News said sarcastically:

Gay Pride parade in Kiev… Nazis attacking participants and police who protect them. However they are not called nazis here. They are called patriots and activists. These guys were the muscle force that made possible Ukrainian coup. Meet these nice people. This is the country where I live.

Dmitry Yarosh, the leader of the Right Sector openly called for this aggression from his neo nazi activists – and likely soldiers which have now been fighting along side the Ukrainian national guard, which has incorporated the far right and Neo Nazi Azov, Aidair, and other Battalions.

They vowed to prevent the rally, referring to it as an “obscene orgy.” These are the people that the United States are training, arming to the teeth, and sending out to kill eastern Ukrainian people who are resisting the coup, and also to kill ethnic Russians, including civilians. These are the people who attacked a Kiev gay club, and burned Kiev’s LGBTQIA+ theatre to the ground.

Amnesty International helped organize the event, and interestingly enough were big time supporters of the original Euromaidan coup that gave these neo-nazis the freedom and power they enjoy today.

Amnesty International helped organize the event, and interestingly enough were big time supporters of the original Euromaidan coup that gave these neo-nazis the freedom and power they enjoy today. Later, Amnesty referred to these far right battalions as “ISIS like.” From the Odessa massacre, to aggressions against ethnic Russians, leftist activists, and attacks they launch on gay people in Ukraine, these US backed neo-nazis enjoy almost complete freedom to reign terror on marginalized people. At least 40 attacks against the LGBTQIA+ community were reported in Ukraine in 2014, with at least 10 already in 2015.
