THE drug addict boyfriend of 15-year-old Leanne Thompson will likely be charged with contempt after refusing to answer questions at a Brisbane inquest into her death.
Alexander O’Sachy told the Brisbane Coroners Court on Tuesday that he “had nothing to do with the death of Leanne”.
The policeman’s daughter was found hanging from the rafters of a home at Wishart in 2006.
O’Sachy refused to answer any questions about their relationship or the events leading up to her death, despite being ordered to by Coroner John Lock.
“It was a tragic thing that happened … I’ve got nothing else to say,” he said.
He will be brought back before the Coroner on Friday to learn his fate and faces a three-year jail term if charged with contempt.
The court heard O’Sachy was already serving a five-year sentence for drug trafficking.
His brother, Daniel O’Sachy, earlier denied any involvement in Leanne’s death, which was initially treated as a suicide but has since become a murder investigation.
He said evidence given by a neighbour, who said she saw the O’Sachy brothers assault and then hang Leanne, was untrue.
However, he said Alexander had verbally and physically abused Leanne on the morning of her death, and had told her: “Go kill yourself.”
The court heard Alexander had already been tried and acquitted of encouraging Leanne to take her own life.
Daniel said he was concerned his brother was taking advantage of Leanne and had bragged that sleeping with a police officer’s daughter was “the ultimate payback”.
He said his repeated attempts to encourage child welfare services to remove her from the property and from Alexander’s influence had been fruitless.
The inquest continues.
