The members of parliament, led by the head of the Democratic Party, Fred Nile, expressed their sorrow at the terrible tragedy that befell the young men and boys at the Meron celebration. They sent their deepest condolences to the grieving families.

Cantor at The Central Synagogue Rabbi Yehuda Niasoff moved the crowd with a heartfelt traditional prayer “G-d full of mercy” for the soul of the deceased.

Speakers included Alex Ryvchin, Co-CEO of The Executive Council of Australian Jewry, Rabbi Dovid Slavin, Rabbi Chaim Levy who shared his personal experience in Meron, Shai Zarivatch Israeli representative and Yigal Nisell, educational shliach of JNF.

The guests lit candles in their memory and wished complete healing to the survivors of the incident.

Included in the prayers was 19-year-old Yehuda Guetta who was killed in a terrorist attack this week.

The sentiments of the event included taking positive action to honour the memory of the victims and to bring comfort to their grieving families.

The event closed with the moving reading of the names of the victims by Chanale Levy.
