A former British police officer with experience protecting the royal family has joined the ranks of the South Australian police.
The officer is among 29 former British or South African policemen and women who have moved to Adelaide to join the local force.
Police Minister Jennifer Rankine said the officers had a wealth of experience including drug surveillance, marine support, neighbourhood policing, child protection, murder investigations and plain clothes operations.
She said 18 men and eight women had come from the UK and three men from South Africa.
They will be posted to various metropolitan and country locations.
