Russia eyes growing agriculture imports from Iran, ambassador

Anzali, Gilan prov, Feb 2, IRNA – Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Jagarian voiced interest in growing imports of agricultural products from this northern province.

In a meeting with the Managing Director of Anzali Free Zone Reza Masrour, he said his country was keen for increasing interaction between the two countries and was enthusiastic about the province’s high potential in agriculture sector. In the future the province could send more agricultural items to Russia.

He said lowering tariffs for Iranian goods set by Russia will certainly provide a good opportunity for Iranian businessmen to enhance their presence in Russian markets.

Referring to the old history of cooperation between the two countries, he said the Anzali Free Zone and Russia’s Astrakhan port city could have good cooperation.

The Iranian official said signing agreements with Russia’s Astrakhan and Kazakhstan’s Actao free zones are among the effective measures taken by his organization to promote ties with the two countries.
