Russia warned Western and Arab nations on Wednesday against arming opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, saying it would lead to years of bloodshed without helping the rebels to defeat government forces.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the “Friends of Syria” group of Western and Arab nations is undermining international envoy Kofi Annan’s efforts to end more than a year of violence, and criticized countries that support arming the opposition.
“It is clear as day that even if the opposition is armed to the teeth, it will not defeat the Syrian army, and there will simply be slaughter and mutual destruction for long, long years,” Interfax news agency quoted Lavrov as saying.

Yea you big bullies! Don’t let htose people defend themselves against a despot! If you do we’ll get angry and make more rediculous videos about how you blew up your own world trade center…. Yake Yak Yak
If Lavrov thinks that this could last for years-and-years then he apparently knows that Russia will be impotent to stop the West from it’s goal of destabilizing the entire Middle East.
And if that is truly the case, it suggests that one of two things is going-on geopolitically.
Either Russia is a covert accomplice in some global conspiracy to advance the communist agenda worldwide, or Russia is planning on sitting on the sidelines and eating popcorn while the rest of the world slowly dies a horrible death to Western imperialism.
Either way, the picture looks rather grim for those of us that had high hopes for Russian intervention throwing a monkey wrench into the plans of fascists.
Maybe when the U.S. nukes Russia and the ABM missile system stops Russia from being able to defend themselves their attitude will change.
If Russia and China are willing to go the distance, WW III could result.
That ugly bitch “C” is at it again,so much for her role as peacekeeper……she can,t be trusted she,s only a puppet.
very true boonie. very true
The history book on the shelf is allways repeating itself !!
This is going way fuck down the rabbit hole. Answer me a question. How can Russia be certain NATO/UN (two parties committed to democratic principles i.e. nonviolence) armed rebels will not defeat the Syrian army? Is Syria a contested territory?
