Awake Goy Moscow, July 11, IRNA – Former member of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs committee Simon Bagdasarov said here on Monday that Iran has managed to foil the foreign terrorists plots, the US in particular, in the past four decades.
Talking to IRNA, Bagdasarov, who is now the director of the Center for Middle Eastern and Central Asian Studies in Russia, said Iran is also considered as a symbol of combat against terrorism in the region.
He also described the Islamic Republic of Iran as the safest country in the region, underscoring that none of the regional countries but Iran has the effective record of combat against terrorist groups in the Middle East.
The Russian official also reiterated that the US is trying to instigate the terrorist elements to create chaos, disturb peace and tranquility in Iran.
While not getting tangible outcomes from its plots against Iran, he said, the US instigated the ex-Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to wage a war against the Islamic Republic.
Thanks to Iran’s valuable achievements in its counter-terrorist efforts in the past four decades, he said, Iran is the forerunner in the fight against terrorism in the region.
