FEOR President and Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar took part in the Victory Day Parade (commemorates Soviet defeat of the Nazis) May 9, 2021.

President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, Rabbi Alexander Boroda, Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar, together with other heads of traditional confessions of Russia, took part in the Victory Day Parade.

Rabbi Alexander Boroda noted the grandeur of the Victory Parade. The FEOR President stressed that the solemn demonstration of troops, military equipment, first of all, confirms confidence in a peaceful life in the future. It indicates not so much about military power, but about the possibility of resisting any threat and aggression.

“Victory Day is an undeniably great holiday! For every person on earth, this Victory meant the triumph of good. Victory Day saved the Jewish people from the complete destruction planned by Hitler, and we will forever remain grateful to the warrior-liberator of the Red Army.

“It was the courage and strength of the Red Army soldiers who were able to stop this terrifying death machine, which seemed to be omnipotent and invincible. The Great Patriotic War is not only a war for freedom, for defending one’s territory, for the life and salvation of one’s loved ones, but it is also an ideological war, it is a spiritual opposition to misanthropy, opposition to the criminal and immoral principles of fascism and nationalism. Therefore, the significance of Victory Day is inexorable for all mankind, for all countries! And if extremist sentiments reappear, chauvinist ideas are heard in the international space, then the true history of the Victory is updated with even greater force,” commented Rabbi Boroda.

Yours faithfully
