Three bomb blasts targeting Pakistani security forces have killed at least four people in the commercial hub of Karachi, officials say.
In the first incident on Wednesday, two bombs exploded close to a Rangers’ check post in the busy North Nazimabad neighborhood, killing one soldier and wounding three others.
According to a senior police officer, the bombs were installed in cement blocks and targeted at the Rangers.
Later, a bomber blew himself up at the entrance of the Rangers’ headquarters located in the same area, killing two troops and a civilian security guard, and wounding another.
“The suicide attacker walked in and tried to enter into the gate when he was intercepted by the security officials and he blew himself up,” AFP quoted the police officer as saying.
The injured were rushed to the nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
The incidents come nearly two weeks after a bomb attack on a military base in northwestern town of Bannu, which killed more than two dozen soldiers.
Pakistan has become the scene of violence and frequent bomb blasts. A number of bomb explosions and militant attacks have killed dozens of people, including several security personnel over the past five days.
The Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has carried out numerous attacks against security forces as well as civilians since 2001 when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US on the so-called war on terror.
Pakistani government has said it will use an all-out military action as the last resort to address the issues of extremism and militancy in the country.
