State Emergency Service crews in western Victoria will be drafted in on Monday to help mop up after wild storms that swept through much of the state on Christmas Day.
Melbourne took the brunt of the storms, with hailstones the size of cricket balls damaging property and torrential rain causing flash flooding throughout the city and suburbs.
The SES had handled more than 2000 calls for assistance, mainly damage caused by hailstones to skylights and windows.
Floodwaters have swollen the Yarra River and bicycle paths will be closed on Monday as a safety precaution.
The Merri Creek was also threatening to break its banks around Coburg and Fitzroy.
International and domestic flights were diverted to Sydney and many other flights grounded in Melbourne as airlines waited as the storms vented their fury.
But it appears most of the wild weather has passed and the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a morning shower and a maximum of 23 degrees for the start of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India at the MCG.
