The earthquake hit at a depth of 4.3km. No casualties have been reported so far.
Bogazici University’s Kandilli Observatory, which specializes in earthquake research, as well as the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) report that the magnitude of the quake was 4.8.
Sunday’s quake comes less than a week after a 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck around 14km from Bodrum. It’s the fourth powerful earthquake to hit Turkey since the beginning of the summer, with 6.7 and 6.3-magnitude earthquakes having hit off the Turkish coast in July and June respectively.
