Prosecutors say a Brisbane man faked being distraught about discovering his former girlfriend’s body because he murdered her.
Max Sica, 41, has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Neelma Singh and her younger siblings Kunal and Sidhi Singh in April 2003.
The Crown says Sica strangled his former girlfriend during an argument and took the lives of her brother and sister because they were the only witnesses.
Prosecutor Michael Byrne used his opening address to outline the complicated relationship between Sica and Neelma Singh.
He told the jury the Crown alleges Sica killed the Singh siblings, cleaned up the crime scene and returned a day later to call police, saying he had found their bodies.
Mr Byrne says Sica was distraught when he called police but that it was a sham.
He described Sica as manipulative and someone who could not be trusted.
