Sigourney Weaver Thanks Jennifer Lawrence For Paving The Way For Female Action Heroes

HOLLYWOOD, CA — In a touching interview, actress Sigourney Weaver thanked fellow actress Jennifer Lawrence for boldly paving the way for female action stars like her.

“Before Jennifer starred in The Hunger Games, no female had ever played an action hero before,” said Weaver, starting to get choked up. “When I was filming Alien in 1979, studios were doubtful that a scrawny woman could draw audiences like a burly Schwarzenegger or Stallone. Jennifer broke that glass ceiling for all of us. If it weren’t for her courage, I never would have gotten my roles in Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, or my little-known indie film Avatar.”

Other Hollywood stars have come forward as well, thanking Lawrence for making it possible to see iconic heroines on the big screen such as Sarah Connor in Terminator, Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. “Her bold creative risks made our careers possible,” said Uma Thurman. “We owe everything to her.”

At publishing time, J.K. Rowling had also come forward to thank Lawrence for inventing the “Young Adult Fiction” genre.
