The Smart Cargo accessory is a storage solution that attaches to your iPad’s Smart Cover and carries all of your iPad bits and bobs.

The iPad is good at many things, but that slim, sleek design has one big flaw: where do you put all the little gizmos that go with it? Your stylus, in-ear headphones, charging cable, screen cloth, maybe even a pen or a few mints. Currently, the solution is a case with pockets or an iPad bag.
If you’re the kind of person who likes to go minimal, though, the Smart Cargo offers a different solution. A sort of aluminium-look plastic pencil case, it sticks to your iPad’s Smart Cover using magnets and opens up to just enough space for a few essentials, felt lined for protection.
Created as it is by Dotan Saguy — who came up with some rather simple and clever stand solutions for iPhones and iPads — it’s unsurprising that the case has a few other tricks up its sleeve, too. When the cover is closed, the Smart Cargo doubles as an extra carrying grip, or it can help with holding the iPad one-handed.

Its ergonomic shape also means the case can be used as a wrist rest when typing on a flat surface — and if it gets in the way, it can be rolled up neatly in the Smart Cover when you’re using it as a stand.
“I wanted the Smart Cargo to be a storage device that ‘lives’ on the iPad yet doesn’t get in the way of using the iPad. That’s why it attaches magnetically, and fits inside the folded-up Smart Cover,” Saguy said. “And when I was done designing it, I realised that I had exceeded my design goal: not only did the Smart Cargo not get in the way of using the iPad, it made carrying the iPad a more pleasant experience thanks to the added ergonomic grip.”
Available in 10 different colours, Smart Cargo is currently available for an early bird pledge of just US$15 on Kickstarter.
