The military said 38 teams from 19 countries would participate in the five-day contest at the U.S.-financed King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center.

“This demonstration of marksmanship, endurance, teamwork, tactics and communications will highlight the capabilities of nations to continue to confront the presence of terrorism within the global community,” the training center said.

In a statement on April 8, the Warrior Competition cited such special operations forces skills as aircraft assault and gate-to-gate. The competition would accompany Jordan’s biannual SOFEX-2014.

“Adding a new dimension, to the 2014 Warrior Competition is the all new produced scenarios using state of the art technology and robotics,” the center said.

Jordan has hosted Arab and NATO training at the SOF facility. Officials said the kingdom was negotiating a major program to train Iraq’s military and security forces.

“The significance of this annual Warrior Competition is found in the purpose for which KASOTC was built,” the center said. “Nowhere else in the world is there a larger, more sophisticated, live-fire, counter-terrorism
and special operations training facility where forces for good converge to
share tactics, techniques, procedures and lessons learned.”
