Statement: Extradition of Malka Leifer

Zionism Victoria today welcomed the news that Malka Leifer is returning to Melbourne to face 74 charges pertaining to her alleged sexual abuse of students from the Adass Israel school while she was the principal.

“This is surely a difficult, but important day for the three courageous sisters who have led the vanguard to ensure that Ms Leifer is brought to justice in Victoria,” said Zionism Victoria president, Yossi Goldfarb.

Mr Goldfarb noted that “… the Jewish community stands behind Dassi Erlich, Nicole Meyer and Elly Sapper as the focus shifts from the overly long extradition process to the forthcoming trial.”

“We have the utmost confidence that the Victorian judicial system will provide every opportunity for the victim/survivors of these horrific crimes to have their voices heard and look forward to the Court’s ultimate resolution and judgement,” Mr Goldfarb concluded.
