HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas authorities say a man suspected of abducting a woman and torturing her for two days before she escaped has been arrested in eastern Tennessee.
The Garland County Sheriff’s Office says Jason Ripley was arrested without incident early Wednesday at a motel in Sevierville, Tenn. Sevierville is near North Carolina and is about 550 miles from Hot Springs, where the alleged assault happened. The warrants were for kidnapping and first-degree battery.
Garland County investigators say the woman contacted them late Saturday and said she had escaped from a camper where a man had tortured her for two days with lit cigarettes, a torch, a stun gun and beatings. She said the man showed up at her friend’s home, got angry and forced her into his vehicle.
