Tabriz elected OIC city of tourism for 2018

TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (MNA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) holds the 9th Session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM) in Niamey, capital of Niger, December 21-23.

Cultural Heritage Organization public relations office quoted the Organization’s Deputy for Parliament, Legal, and Provinces Affairs Assadollah Darvish-Amiri speaking abou the OIC meeting in Niger; “the 9th session of the ICTM elected Tabriz of Iran as the OIC City of Tourism for 2018,” he said.

Darvish-Amiri who was heading Iranian cultural delegation to the event, added that many countries had supported Tabriz nomination, among them Bangladesh and Iraq and had congratulated Iranian delegation for election. “The session also elected Saudi Arabian city of Medina as OIC City of Tourism for 2017,” Darvish-Amiri told reporters on Wednesday.

The ICTM also reviews the reports of relevant OIC institutions, namely the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), the Islamic Center for the Development of Trade (ICDT), the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), the official website of the event report said.
