Rare shallow magnitude 4.5 earthquake hits off coast of Louisiana near New Orleans

     A rare magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck in the Gulf of Mexico about 160 miles southeast of New Orleans. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake hit at a depth of 6 miles.
