In its statement, the Taliban also stressed that the group will continue its relentless fight as long as the foreign forces have a presence in Afghanistan and the American leaders prefer the strategy of war.

U.S. President Donald Trump, on Monday, unveiled the new strategy of the United States for Afghanistan and South Asia. He said his original instinct was to pull out however he said after detailed study of the situation he arrived at three fundamental conclusions.

“First, our nation must seek an honorable and enduring outcome worthy of the tremendous sacrifices that have been made, especially the sacrifices of lives.  The men and women who serve our nation in combat deserve a plan for victory.  They deserve the tools they need, and the trust they have earned, to fight and to win,” he said.

Ironically, during his election campaign Trump didn’t merely say the war in Afghanistan was a total failure. Trump also won many progressive and young votes when he promise that he claimed he knew who really was behind the events on September 11, 2001, and that he would reveal who the real perpetrators were. Less than half of Americans today, believe the “official narrative” about 9/11 and Trump tapped right into that voter potential.

Trump also said “Third and finally, I concluded that the security threats we face in Afghanistan and the broader region are immense.  Today, 20 U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organizations are active in Afghanistan and Pakistan — the highest concentration in any region anywhere in the world.”

Trump did not mention the United States perceived need to contain Iran, China as well as Russian in Afghanistan, nor did he mention Afghanistan’s resources. With lithium becoming an increasingly coveted mineral, the USA and China are both equally interested in Afghanistan’s lithium reserves which are among the world’s largest. Trump did, however, mention Pakistan’s negative influence in the region as well as in Afghanistan.
