They Practiced Together All Season, But Look What Manning Did To Rookie Before Big Game

Early in the season, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was injured and had to sit out for quite a few games. While he was out, he practiced with the same rookie in order to prepare himself for the playoffs, but he pulled a fast one on the rookie just before the Super Bowl.

Manning is known both on and off the field as a great guy, so it stands to reason that even when people aren’t paying close attention, he’s still going to do good things for people. Such is the case with 23-year-old Jordan Taylor, a rookie wide receiver for the Broncos who has yet to catch a single pass in the NFL.

ESPN reports that Jordan was an integral part of getting the Broncos to the Super Bowl, even though he didn’t play a single game all season. Instead, as Manning nursed an injured foot back to health, Jordan was there every morning to practice running routes and catching passes with the legendary quarterback during early morning workouts.

The two players, one about to end his career and the other just getting started, forged a bond with one another that would last throughout the season and all of the way to the Super Bowl, where Jordan had an odd request. Jordan owns suits, but none were nice enough to be wearing for such an event, so he turned to Manning for help.

At first, he just asked if he could borrow a sport coat or something nice so he looked as presentable as his teammates, but Manning took it entirely further. Rather than simply lend the aspiring player a jacket, Manning showed his gratitude by sending him to his own “suit guy” to have one custom tailored for Jordan, and the young wide receiver looked great in it.

“The Broncos told Taylor to go into a room to do interviews. When he saw two very well-dressed men in the room, he knew they weren’t reporters. They were tailors to fit him for a custom-made suit, courtesy of Manning.”

While it’s no secret that Manning is a great guy, stories like this just help to reinforce what we already know about him. Going out of his way for a young player not only shows how good of a heart Manning has, but it solidifies his reputation as one of the greatest players to ever grace the sport – both on and off the field.
