The incident occurred on Thursday when an Afghan soldier and a civilian opened fire on the foreign troops in military outpost.
US Commander Bill Speaks said that the two Afghans were also killed by return fire.
The civilian was a literacy teacher that had grabbed a weapon from a soldier.
The incident came in wake of fresh violent clashes in several provinces of the war-ravaged country over burning of the Holy Qur’an by US-led forces, leaving more than 30 people, including four US military personnel, dead and around 180 others injured.
