Donald Trump, frontrunner for the Republican nomination for president in 2016, appeared on CBS Face The Nation to, among other things, completely gloss over the fact that his anti-Muslim rhetoric appeared in an Islamic terrorist recruitment video.

On the program, Trump responded to questions about his call for a temporary ban of US entry to all Muslims until “we can figure out what’s going on”, saying: “They use other people, too. What am I going to do? I have to say what I have to say.”

Trump then pushed right into the same argument he’s used since he first made these comments: “And you know what I have to say? There’s a problem. We have to find out what is the problem. And we have to solve that problem.”

According to Trump, his criticism of Muslims is helping the US fight terrorism. He said: “Look, there’s a problem. I bring it up. Other people have called me and say, ‘You have guts to bring it up’ because frankly, it’s true but nobody wants to get involved. Now people are getting involved. People that are on different persuasions than me right now, John, are saying, ‘You know, maybe Trump isn’t wrong. We want to examine it.’”

Al-Shabaab is a terrorist group that has recently released a recruitment video, targeting African American men in the US to rise up, join their cause and fight their Islamic jihad.

To inspire African American men to take up arms, al-Shabaab played a clip of Donald Trump calling for the halting of entry all Muslims into the US.

Al-Shabaab hopes this rhetoric will convince African Americans that the US is “a racist society” by intersplicing Trump with clips of Anwar al-Awlaki predicting that there will be a mass persecution of Muslims in the US.

The fact that al-Shabaab is using Trump’s anti-Muslim comments in a recruitment video has bigger implications.

One of the more popular Islamic terrorist groups found in NY prisons is al-Shabaab. In fact, as of 2003, Muslims make up 17-20% of the prison population in New York, which translates to 350,000 inmates.

The number of Islamic converts now has grown exponentially.

The majority of these converts are African American, yet there is a small community of Hispanics converting as well.

These prison converts are radicalized in prison “by outside islamist groups linked to terrorism, according to J. Michael Waller, professor with the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Professor of International Communication at the Institute of World Politic.

The Department of Justice (DoJ) released a report in 2004, concerning the prison system’s failure to prevent “infiltration by religious extremist” who coordinate “worship services”

Mark Hamm, criminologist at Indiana State University (ISU), explained this phenomenon as “prison Islam” which is derived from “small gang-like cliques that use cut-and-paste versions of the Koran” to inspire religiously fueled violence that will translate to future criminal activities.

Hamm has made correlations in 5 incidents that turned into terroristic attacks, including the 2005 Los Angeles bomb plot.

We know of at least one terrorist plot against Muslim Americans that was inspired by Trump. Just before Christmas in 2015, a supporter of Trump was arrested by police in Richmond, California because the 55 year old William Celli was building an improvised explosive device (IED) with the intent to target his local Muslim community.

According to Celli’s Facebook page , he was in support of Trump, calling him a “great man” and promising to “follow this MAN to the end of the world.”

Celli also said on social media that there is an “invasion” of “illegals” and because of this he “lost 30%” of his business “to Hispanics coming to” the US “under false pretenses”. He said Mexicans are “freeload[ing]” and “need to go back home”.

Trump’s most dangerous fan is being held on $525,000 bail. He is considered a threat after he promised violence against “members of the Islamic Society of West Contra Costa County in Richmond”.
