Trump Sending So Many Gang Members Back To El Salvador That Officials There Now In A Panic

The Trump administration is sending violent gang members back to their home countries in droves — so many that one country is dreading what’s to come.

El Salvador authorities are holding emergency meetings and trying to come up with new laws to keep track of all the criminals being deported from the U.S., The Washington Post reports.

This year the U.S. government has deported 398 gang members to this country, compared with 534 in all of 2016, according to Salvadoran government statistics. This sharp increase in the rate of gang deportations — and the prospect of more gang roundups in the United States — has prompted Salvadoran authorities to hold emergency meetings and propose new legislation to monitor suspected criminals who are being sent home.

This clearly affects El Salvador. We already have a climate of violence in the country that we are combating,” said Héctor Antonio Rodríguez, the director of the country’s immigration agency. “If gang members return, of course this worries us.”

President Trump has targeted members of the violent gang known as MS-13, or Mara Salvatrucha. Earlier this month he said the organization will be “gone from our streets very soon, believe me.” And Trump is making the rounding up of MS-13 members a top priority.

Law enforcement officials in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities have launched raids recently to capture dozens of MS-13 and other Latino gang members. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announcedthis month the arrest of more than 1,300 gang members across the country in what it described as the largest anti-gang crackdown in agency history.

Salvadorans are dreading the return of those captured in the U.S. raids.

“Probably we won’t feel the symptoms today or tomorrow or the next week. But probably in six months or a year we’ll be feeling the symptoms of what these deportations are causing now,” San Salvador Mayor Nayib Bukele said in an interview.

This is the opposite of what former president Barack Obama did. “The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency released nearly 600 illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes, many because their home countries refused to take them back, according to newly obtained documents,” the Washington Examiner wrote.

ICE said that a total of 564 illegal sex criminals were let go for legal reasons in the latest accounting period, fiscal 2015.

Of those, ICE was forced to release 151 because their native nations would not accept them. Under a 2001 Supreme Court case, the government can’t indefinitely jail illegals ordered deported if their home countries won’t take them back.

The documents, obtained by the Immigration Reform Law Institute under the Freedom of Information Act, do not give names or locations of the illegals, but do provide a general classification of the sex crimes. They are:

  • 95 convicted of “commercialized sexual offense.”
  • 275 convicted of “other sexual offenses.”
  • 194 convicted of “sexual assault.”

Of the total, 218 were granted bond by an immigration judge and 12 released due to “prosecutorial discretion,” including consideration under DACA, or deferred action for childhood arrivals.

Yes, Trump is kicking *ass, taking names — and sending criminals right out of America.
