UK Olympics minister urged to resign

Fresh evidence provided by Rebekah Brooks, the former head of the British arm of Murdoch’s media empire, News International, shed more light on Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt’s links with the phone hacking scandal.

The email from Frederic Michel, the public affairs executive of Murdoch’s News Corporation, to Brooks revealed that Hunt’s office had asked the firm to “guide his and Number 10’s position” on the phone hacking scandal.

Last month, revealed emails and text messages exchanged between Michel and Adam Smith, the special advisor to Hunt, showed that Hunt’s office had instructed Murdoch on how to counter opponents to his bid to take over satellite broadcaster BSkyB.

“How much more evidence does (Prime Minister) David Cameron need that this man is not fit to hold this high office?” said Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman.

This comes while Jeremy’s spokeswoman said he would stay in his position and would provide evidence which “will vindicate the position that he has behaved with integrity on every issue.”
