A WA tourist has plummeted 25m, head-first into crocodile-infested waters in Zimbabwe after her bungee cord broke during the jump.

Erin Langworthy, a 22-year-old Applecross adventurer, free fell into the Zambezi River on New Year’s Eve after her bungee cord snapped towards the end of her jump.

Ms Langworthy told Nine News that she went black and felt like she had been slapped as she hit the water and was dragged down-stream towards rapids.

With her bungee cord still attached, Ms Langworthy had to swim down and untie herself as the rope snagged on rocks.

After being rescued from the edge of the river and flown by medivac, Ms Langworthy spent a week in hospital.

“I think it is definitively a miracle that I survived,” Ms Langworthy said.

The bungee company says it operations are safe.
