What it takes to make change for Palestine: see what longtime activists say

One of the great satisfactions and privileges of my role at Mondoweiss is when activists tell us that our work helps them push for justice. Recently, someone who visits Capitol Hill regularly told me she gives our print publication, “The World The Settlers Made,” to Congressional staff—and that she’s seen it have an impact.

As the year winds down, I want to thank all those who have contributed to our current challenge, which will let us receive $60,000 if we can raise $100,000 by Dec. 31.

We’re well on our way—but if you haven’t given yet, please donate now. We still need almost $40,000 to get the challenge funds, and there are hundreds of you who gave last year who have not contributed yet this year.

Today, read the words of some more of the Thousand Voices for Truth. Three seasoned activists have shared their analyses and personal stories on Mondoweiss over the years. Read on to see why they value Mondoweiss as an outlet to inform and strengthen the movement for justice in Palestine.

One of the activists who finds our work useful is Jeff Klein, a board member of Massachusetts Peace Action who took a leadership role in battling the state’s proposed anti-BDS legislation. Jeff has written for Mondoweiss since 2010, and he says:

Mondoweiss is invaluable because it provides crucial information and a forum for activists to share their perspectives.  There is no other site which covers our issue so broadly, from reports on the ground in Palestine and the rest of the Middle East to local developments in our US-based solidarity movement. And its growing influence allows authors to reach thousands of readers all over the world.

Another Voice for Truth published by Mondoweiss is Cathy Sultan, award-winning author and longtime board member of Interfaith Peace Builders. Cathy has written,

Mondoweiss provides a crucially important voice to our movement. At no time in recent history has our collective engagement been more urgently needed. We, the people, do have the power to create change, to influence and shape the policies of our governments. Now is the time to exercise that right. Now is the time to support the work of Mondoweiss.

And movement leader and the co-founder and Executive Director of Al-Shabaka, Nadia Hijab, says:

Mondoweiss is an essential part of my daily reading and it’s vital that it sustains—and grows—its intellectual output. Join me in supporting Mondo because we need it to be a thriving and growing organization. Our movement cannot and will not succeed without organizations that have the staff and capacity to push for justice harder and faster—that can achieve demonstrable and measurable change in the United States, one of the toughest arenas in the struggle for rights.

Mondoweiss’s history of increasing impact on the mainstream is an example of how thousands of people can make a difference by investing in action by those they trust. I know that Mondoweiss has important plans to grow and increase its impact further. These plans will make a difference to our movement, and this is why I’m asking you to join me in supporting Mondoweiss today.

I couldn’t ask for a more meaningful endorsement of our work than the support of these three stalwarts in the fight for human rights. Please take a stand as they have, and show your commitment to responsible journalism and truth-telling for the sake of Palestine. Please add your voice to the thousand, and donate today to help us reach our goal.

P.S. If you have already contributed this month, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We couldn’t do it without you!
