Why A Widely Shared Pro-Police Facebook Post Caused A Stir

Generally, a post on a Facebook page is simply that: a person expressing an opinion. Typically it doesn’t require a response. Sometimes, however, the post is representative of a larger problem. It’s a symptom of an epidemic that needs to be addressed. This is one of those times.

The Facebook page “Police, Military & Law Enforcement” made a post in which it quoted a film. The post itself shows the mental gymnastics necessary to continue to blindly support this new breed of hired goon in American law enforcement.

It’s been bad. It’s getting worse every single day. While the average American is still too much of a coward to question the politicians who create the laws the thin blue line will enforce, there is an ever-growing demographic of people who see the writing on the wall.

The entire post is reproduced below with a little commentary after each section.

“I am the police, and I’m here to arrest you. You’ve broken the law. I did not write the law. I may even disagree with the law but I will enforce it.”

Read it as many times as you need to. I may disagree with the politicians, but they handle my pay, so I will do what they tell me. The introduction should be an indictment of law enforcement, not a mark of honor. This glamorized statement could just as easily read “I am a hired thug.”

The law is not a substitute for morality. You don’t get a pass because some corrupt politician in DC or your state capital wrote some words in a book. If you’re arresting people for anything the government tells you to, you’d do anything else they tell you. You’re not heroes. You’re government do-boys. You’re scum. There is no difference between you and any other tyrant’s lackey who was just following orders.

“No matter how you plead, cajole, beg or attempt to stir my sympathies, nothing you do will stop me from placing you in a steel cage with gray bars. If you run away I will chase you. If you fight me I will fight back. If you shoot at me I will shoot back.”

Don’t forget they will do this simply because it is the law, even if they disagree with it. They are bragging about being the same caliber of thug who worked for the Gestapo. They’ll kill you if you don’t do as your betters in DC tell you.

By law I am unable to walk away. I am a consequence. I am the unpaid bill. I am fate with a badge and a gun. Behind my badge is a heart like yours. I bleed, I think, I love, and yes I can be killed. And although I am but one man, I have thousands of brothers and sisters who are the same as me. They will lay down their lives for me, and I them. We stand watch together. The thin-blue-line, protecting the prey from the predators, the good from the bad. We are the police.

No, you don’t think. If you did think, you would never consider this creed something honorable or worthy of mentioning. You should be ashamed of belonging to union of thugs. Your brotherhood means nothing. Read what you just told the American people you were. You don’t get respect for that. You deserve nothing but contempt.

Deep down you know the politicians writing the laws are corrupt and are only interested in serving themselves. If that’s true, then how can you find solace in doing their bidding? If you are a thinking person, if you are an honorable person, how can you possibly think serving the corrupt is anything other than corrupt?

Certainly, someone will pen a comment or email to inform us how these men and women are heroes because they deal with crimes like rape, murder, and so on. They will be as dramatic as possible in framing the horrible event in hopes of tugging at the heart strings. Allow me to preemptive state “No matter how you plead, cajole, beg or attempt to stir my sympathies, nothing you do will stop me from” pointing out exactly how evil you have allowed your profession to become.

I would also like to know how many people the average cop kidnaps for some victimless crime and how often they stop a real crime. You chose to cast yourself as an unthinking trained animal, don’t cry about it now. It’s your creed. Defend it. Own it. Proudly proclaim once again that you are nothing more than a goon squad for the government.
