A woman is facing assault charges after allegedly biting a police officer who was trying to arrest her.
Police were called to a disturbance at Mossman, north of Cairns, about 5.30pm (AEST) on Tuesday.
A 22-year-old woman from nearby Mossman Gorge bit a senior constable on the hand as she was being taken into custody, police said.
She’s been charged with serious assault of a police officer, public nuisance and obstructing police and will face the Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The police officer received medical treatment for his injuries.
