Woman suffering from face blindness can’t recognize own reflection

Tara Fall wakes up in the morning and doesnt recognize the woman staring back at her in the mirror.


The 38-year-old mother-of-two has prosopagnosia, or face blindness, which means even her closest family and friends look like strangers.


About 10 and a half years ago, Fall suffered a stroke while undergoing surgery for her seizures. The right hemisphere of her brain was damaged.


Fall, an Iowa native who lives in Menifee, Calif., said she can remember faces from the time before her stroke. She can recall conversations and events in great detail but, when it comes to what her children look like or even her own reflection, she draws a blank.


For 10 years now, her idea of what she looks like is still that same 27-year-old woman. It hasnt advanced, Dr. Justin Feinstein, a clinical neuropsychologist at the California Institute of Technology, told CBS2.
