Seth Shostack, senior astronomer from the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Institute told the Senate Committee on Science and Space Technology (HCSST) back in 2014: “It’s unproven whether there is any life beyond Earth. It’s unproven whether there is any life beyond Earth.”
But that has not stopped scientists from coming up with the concept of a cloaking device to make earth invisible to aliens.
Astronomers from Columbia University believe that the earth could be shielded to make the entire planet invisible if there were killer aliens lurking out in space.
David Kipping suggests that by using a laser beam to direct into the “eye-like organs of any aliens” would work. The cloaking laser “could be as simple as firing a 30 MW later for about 10 hours per year during the time frame”.
However, there is a better idea. If humans could develop “a laser that replicates all the different wavelengths found within sunlight” which would require “a 250 MW tunable laser and significantly more power” than there would be protection.
Kipping maintains: “You can even go further and use these tunable lasers to cloak just the biosignatures of the Earth, making our planet look like a boring dull lifeless world (that costs only a couple hundred kW of power).”
The best part is these lasers could be used “to broadcast” humans’ presence “to the aliens” while also being used for defense.
Alex Teachey, graduate student at Columbia University, said: “The initial idea was about broadcasting a signal—changing the shape of a transit to encode information. But then we took it one step further, and realized you can effectively cloak your planet by modifying its transit.”
Questions about aliens abound. According to one theory, they could be reptilian-like. Ronald Breslow, an American chemist working with NASA Kempler project suggested in 2012 that if life were based on slightly different amino acids and sugars, then there would be dinosaur-like humanoids with our same level of intelligence and technologies out there in the universe.
Breslow maintains that dinosaurs would probably have evolved to become highly intelligent warriors armed with technology that would far surpass ours and weaponry that could leave no doubt over who was ruler of the universe. Yet, their hunger for fresh meat would not be abated.
The chemist said: “Of course, showing that it could have happened this way is not the same as showing that it did. An implication from this work is that elsewhere in the universe there could be life forms based on D-amino acids and L-sugars. . . Such life forms could well be advanced versions of dinosaurs, if mammals did not have the good fortune to have the dinosaurs wiped out by an asteroidal collision, as on Earth. . . We would be better off not meeting them.”
And Paul Springer, professor and spokesperson for the Pentagon suggested that an alien attack could be eminent and that the US military was discussing a plan of action if the supposition were to become a reality.
Back in 2012, Nick Pope, a former UFO expert at the UK’s Ministry of Defense (MoD), warned that aliens could take advantage of the Olympic Games to strike an invasion against humanity .
Pope has prepared for the worst case scenario because “the government must – has planned – for an alien attack and invasion.”
The Alien Invasion War Plan (AIWP) provides space shuttles, lasers and directed – energy weapons in “defense against alien ships in orbit.”
Pope asserted that the international community, meaning the UN, should be ready to respond.
This former member of MoD recommended playing video “games such as Resistance: Burning Skies on PlayStation Vita help acclimatize people to the reality of extraterrestrial life – and in particular that they might be hostile.”
